How Leo.space uses cookies and similar technologies

Leo.space uses a small number of first-party cookies and browser storage to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and measure usage. The cookies below are set only as you use the relevant features — most tools work without setting any cookie at all. If you accept advertising, Google AdSense may also set third-party cookies to serve and measure ads; see the Analytics and advertising section below.

Cookies we set

These are strictly necessary or functional preference cookies. They store only your own settings, carry no advertising identifier, and are exempt from the optional analytics and advertising choices:

• leo-a11y-v1 — your display and accessibility preferences (colour theme and text size) chosen from the “Display” menu. Lasts about a year.
• leo-observer-loc — a location (latitude, longitude, and an optional label) you explicitly choose in a location-aware tool, so other tools on the site can reuse it. Set only when you pick a location yourself; locations guessed from your IP address are never saved. Lasts about 90 days.
• ham-passes-prefs, ham-planner-prefs, leo-ham-operator — preferences for the amateur-radio tools (pass-predictor filters, planner settings, and your operator/station details), set only if you use those tools.
• leo-cms-env — used only inside the password-protected admin area to remember which backend environment an editor is working against. It is never set for ordinary visitors.

Local browser storage

Some features also use your browser’s local and session storage instead of cookies. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers as a cookie. It includes your saved consent choices, a “field day” display toggle, an anonymous per-session identifier used for usage measurement, any amateur-radio contact log you create, and short-lived technical flags that keep page loads reliable.

Analytics and advertising

Performance measurement uses an anonymous session identifier to understand how pages are used; we do not sell this data. Leo.space may show advertising, including through Google AdSense. No advertising technology — including the AdSense script itself — loads until you grant consent through the cookie controls below; before that, no ad request is made. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites once you've consented.
